Zinc PCA (Zinc Pyrrolidone Carboxylic Acid) is a powerful, multifunctional cosmetic active ingredient primarily used to regulate oil production, fight acne, and hydrate the skin. It is a synthetic zinc salt created by combining zinc with L-pyrrolidone carboxylic acid (L-PCA), a naturally occurring amino acid molecule in the skin that makes up part of its Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF)

Solubility: Highly water-soluble, making it easy to incorporate into water phases or cool-down phases of skincare formulas

Usage rate: 0.1% to 1.0%. Use 1.0% for maximum oil reduction and 0.2% to 0.5% for anti-dandruff hair shampoos.

pH Stability: Most stable within pH range of 4.0 to 6.0. If the formulation pH drops too low or rises too high, the zinc can precipitate out of the solution. It is also highly sensitive to alkaline components like Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH).
