INCI: Bakuchiol (10%), Argania spinosa kernel oil

Solubility: Oil

Use rate: 3.0 – 10% (10% of the solution equals 1% of pure bakuchiol. Do not exceed 10%).

pH stability: 3.5 – 6.5

Other Stability and Efficacy Considerations: Avoid contact with iron and copper. Add EDTA (0.1-0.2%) or Sodium phytate (0.1-0.2%) to prevent deterioration caused by metal ions. Use with a penetration enhancer (e.g. Epidev (Dimethyl Isorsobide), Propanediol, or Azone) to boost efficacy. Finished products should be dispensed in dark packaging.

Appearance: Oily liquid.

Storage: Store in an airtight, dark container in a cool atmosphere.

This is a natural and safe alternative to retinol (Vitamin A), a 100% plant-based extract of the Babchi plant. Bakuchiol is an active ingredient derived from Psoralea corylifolia (babchi seeds) and is different from the whole oil which is also available on the market as bakuchi (or babchi) oil. It imparts the benefits of retinol but without the safety concerns that Retinol has. One of its great advantages is its photostability which makes it suitable for day applications.
