Azelaic acid is in a class of medications called dicarboxylic acids commonly used in cosmetic formulations to help the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
It works to treat rosacea by decreasing the swelling and redness of the skin, to treat acne (mildly to moderately inflamed acne) by killing the bacteria that infect pores and by decreasing production of keratin, clear uneven skin tone by blocking tyrosinase enzyme, azelaic acid inhibits epidermal melanogenesis and prevents the excess build-up of pigment cells on the skin.
It has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant properties and is a a multifunctional skincare ingredient that also promote skin exfoliation.
It is super gentle and safe during pregnancy and can be used to treat melasma while pregnant. compatible with all skin tones and types, including darker skin tones and sensitive skin.
